Dr. Sinoff is an oncologist in Ohio.
Dear Mr. Wilson,
I am a medical oncologist in specialist practice for 19 years. As you realize, a substantial number of my patients die from their diseases, frequently suffering and in pain. It is with incredulity that I have reviewed the prosecution of Dr. Robert Weitzel, a compassionate physician who has been subjected to a Kafkaesque and surreal ordeal.
The management of his suffering patients was entirely appropriate. What provoked this persecutory prosecution? This surrealist process will undermine the care that terminal patients receive. How much will our own loved ones suffer once palliative care physicians have been persecuted out of their calling? The persistent prosecution of this physician raises doubts about the motives and judgement of the prosecution. It surely will bring ridicule and shame to the Department of Professional Licensing in Utah.
I urge you to restore some degree of respect to the judicial and professional licensing process in Utah at a minimum by revoking this prosecution and preferably offering an apology for a this injustice.
Yours sincerely,
Clive Sinoff M.D.
